Day 25 (S15)
Early in the morning Kin used a sending to Alice to update her on the situation at the Sprite Light coven.
"Dammit, Aurelius" she said, "those pouches are probably sending the Church of Luminus straight to the coven!"
“I’m sorry, ok… I didn’t know this would happen.” Aurelius answered.
Alice answered the sending: "We are near Castle Frey, will probably meet Sullivan Frey tomorrow. Meet at the Tunnel Inn."
Kin opted to help Valentine and Abagail with things in the coven for the day. "I feel like I owe you guys something after all the trouble this has caused" he said to them.
"We have acquired Mistbrook recently" Valentine mentioned, "Many of the citizens opted to move to Riverbend like Rina suggested! You can help some of them pack if you like."
So Kin spent the day helping the people of Mistbrook move their things.
The ship arrived in Castle Frey mid-day. Rina watched from the bow of the ship as they returned under the arch of the river's entrance to the city, looking up at the anthill-like streets all above and around them with people moving all about them. "Feels like home..." she said to herself with a big, deep breath.
As they docked, Alice and Aurelius were the first two to get off - Alice dragging Aurelius by the sleeve the whole way.
“Let’s burn those damn pouches right now,” said Alice.
“But… I paid for those…” Aurelius wined.
“I don’t care!” Alice said, “You never even asked us if any of us were ok with this. I’m not risking something like this happening again.”
Aurelius handed over all of the pouches, and Alice burned them right there in the stone streets of Castle Frey.
Rina waited for Gunther and Marie to wake up before she left the ship, “Good morning, you two!” she said with a grin.
“Uhh… good morning?” said Gunther.
“I heard you had a great night,” she said.
Marie blushed and looked away.
“Don’t worry,” Rina reassured, “I think I was the only one to hear you.”
Gunther changed the subject, “We’re going to look for a place to stay here for a few days since the Salt Slayers are supposed to be here soon.”
“We also need to figure out where Longneck is,” Marie mentioned.
“If you have the money,” Rina started, “The penthouse of the Floppy hat inn is pretty nice.”
Rina then saw the fire in the street and excused herself from the conversation to figure out what was going on with her party.
“We’ve been back all of 5 minutes and you’re already setting things on fire?” she scolded.
“It’s these damn pouches!” Alice said, "They're the reason the Church of Luminus is going after the coven!"
“Oh, yeah that makes sense,” Rina replied.
Francis exited the boat at the tail end of the conversion, “Friends, my husband will want to know all about your time in Mt. Ivatim,” he said, “First let me make sure he isn’t busy, and I will have someone fetch you once he’s ready - you have rooms at the Tunnel Inn on the crown.” Godfrey and Francis then left toward the center castle.
Rina put out what was left of the fire with her Prestigitation before leaving, and they all went to the Tunnel Inn.
Alice spent time thinking about the Shepherd and the mysterious Shadow People... and how the air always got really cold when these things happened.
Alice gave Rina a judgmental look, "What?" Rina asked.
"Your devil is kind of cold. Does he have anything to do with these... Bodaks?"
Rina paused and closed her eyes, then reached into her soul to see if she could communicate with Agronoch. She could feel he was listening, and she internally asked, "Is the cold from these bodaks related to you?"
After a moment she heard an answer in her mind in Agronoch's voice, "It ain't me."
Rina shook her head in response to Alice. "He says it isn't his doing."
Alice seemed skeptical, but accepted it, "Not sure we can fully trust him, but... if you say so."
"Well... I trust him," responded Rina.
The remainder of the day, the party did not hear from Sullivan Frey or Kin. So they all ate dinner at the Withershroom and went to bed early.
