Day 07 (S6)

(Started in Vorovni, ended in Riverbend)

Early in the morning, Rina and Kin got up before sunrise. They woke up Alice and Aurelius who were both mildly hungover from the night before.
As they got to the southern gate, they saw a group of 25 soldiers and one general.
Kin approached the general "So, you're the ones who plan to help with the Goblins?"
"Haazaah!" said the general, "Why yes! I am Ser Lloyd, general of Vorovni!"
"Good day, Ser Lloyd!" said Alice.
"Haazaah and Good day, Sprite's Lights!" Lloyd answered, "Now let's go kill some Goblins!!"
They all marched south to Riverbend, and Alice wildshaped into a bird to scout the town and see where all of the enemies were located. There were 30 Goblins and one large Ogre.
The goblins had put all of the tables, chairs, and other pieces of wood in a huge circle. While they worked they all chanted:
"Goblins fair and Goblins green
Guided by their ogre queen
Make a show where all will go
The greatest goblin rodeo
Fetch them horses fetch them men
Catch and snatch and prey again
This be true, because of me
My latest greatest prophecy"

"What do you all think we should do?" Kin asked after Alice returned with the news.
"There are enough soldiers for each of us and Lloyd to command 5" said Rina, "We could split up and take them from all sides."
"That's a terrible idea," said Aurelius, "if there's one thing my dad taught me, it's that you should never split up your soldiers unless absolutely necessary."
"Your dad is in the army of Luminus, right?" said Rina, "So you do know more than any of us about this. What should we do?"
"We would go for the leader first," he started, "get the Ogre down, and the rest will be easy to pick off."
"Ok, then that's what we do" said Alice.

The ogre was pacing in a circle on the eastern side of the town, farthest away from the river - which curled around the western side of the town. She held a trident and seemed to be chanting the same thing as the goblins:
"Fetch them horses fetch them men
Catch and snatch and prey again
This be true, because of me
My latest greatest prophecy."

The party and soldiers all hid in the trees.
"Ok, Lloyd," started Aurelius, "whenever we distract the Ogre, send most of your men on her west side and have them block the entrance to this circle she's pacing in. That will create a bottleneck of Goblins that will make it easy to pick them off. We will get to her from the eastern side from between the buildings."

The party and soldiers went to Aurelius' plan. Before the soldiers could cover the western entrance, three of the goblins got through to try to protect their queen. Rina aimed at the goblins since she could hit multiple at a time with her eldritch blast. Kin used protection spells on the party to prevent them from taking so much damage.
The ogre then aimed at Aurelius and Rina, who were close to each other, and cast a Tsunami spell using the water from the river on the other end of the town. This not only killed many of her own goblins, but it also killed three of the soldiers. Kin had Misty stepped to a roof and Alice had used wildshape to become a bird a fly up there also. Rina and Aurelius did not have such opportunity, and were hit hard by a wall of water. Rina was pushed back between the buildings and nearly pushed completely out of the town.
But Aurelius stood strong by piercing the ground with his sword and holding on. He then used command to have the ogre drop her weapon. In a daze, she dropped the trident and Aurelius went to grab it.
Without a weapon, the ogre could no longer cast any spells. Rina used Cloud of daggers to hit the ogre, who then immediately jumped out of the way of it.
The last goblin was on the roof with Kin, and Kin hit it hard with his sword and it went down. The ogre was now the last one standing.
Alice fell out of wildshape and used Moonbeam on the ogre, burning her with the full power of the sun through the moon. She went down. Her trident disappearing along with her life.
Lloyd reported back to the party "Haazaah! We have won the day! And only lost 6 of our men. Today is to be celebrated!"
"Haazah!" said Alice.
"Haazah!" replied Lloyd, "The rest of my men now need to head back home. The sun is going to set soon."
Rina looked over the empty and now flooded little town. "What will happen to the town now?"
"Who knows?" said Lloyd.
Rina pulled out a pen and paper and wrote a letter to Valentine:
"Valentine,
We have cleared Riverbend of goblins - it is now empty. I recall your desire to annex Mistbrook, which would likely displace many people. Perhaps said people would prefer to live in a river town with better trade opportunities? Perhaps the Sprite Light coven could more easily convince Mayor Highwater of Vorovni to give Mistbrook up if he knew the people would be happier in Riverbend? Just a suggestion.
Best, Rina."

"Lloyd," Rina started, "Would you please give this letter to Marcus in the Vorovni Adventuring Guild and have him put a job on the job board for its delivery to Valentine of the Sprite Light Coven? I have attached 3 gold to it for the job, and here's 2 gold for you."
"Haazaah!" Lloyd yelled, "I would be happy to assist you in this way, Rina of the Sprite's Lights! No gold needed for me!"
Lloyd and the remaining soldiers started back up the road to Vorovni, and the party decided to lay out their bedrolls in the attic of an abandoned house.
"Before we go to sleep" said Kin, "I'd like to use Speak with dead on either one of the goblins or the ogre."
Kin cast the spell on one of the Goblins as it was the only one whose body seemed to still have the capability to speak.
"We get 3, maybe 5 questions" Kin said, "What should we ask?"
"I think we should ask about that greatest prophecy they went on about" said Rina
"I think we should ask who sent them here" said Alice.
"We should probably also understand why they came here specifically" said Aurelius.
Kin then began asking the questions.
The answer to the first: "Carrying out the greatest prophesy is the desire of the Jarl."
Answer to the second: "The Jarl of the Giants sent us."
"Wait" Rina said, "If we only have one more question we should ask more about this Jarl."
Kin nodded, "Where can we find this Jarl?" he asked.
"In a cage for giants, a giant cave with giant mountains in the north!"
"Seems we still have more" Kin said to the party, "Should i ask Aurelius' question?"
Everyone nodded, it's answer was: "An empty city near the bogs was a perfect place to make the rodeo!" The spell then ended.
"That big circle of wood must have been the rodeo area" said Alice.
"So we know whoever is behind this can mind control these creatures" said Kin, "They were all chanting the same thing, but the dead goblin didn't chant at all."

They all decided to head to sleep now that the sun had gone down, they were heading to Pennislovica the next day and needed a good night's rest.
